About this project

ECBC has a unique opportunity to break back into Division I for the first time in 17 years! Summer Eights 2026 brought continued successes for the club:

  • Our Women’s First Eight ended the campaign the highest they have ever placed in Eights.

  • Our Men’s First Eight achieved the highest (non-Headship) blades on the river for the second year running.

These impressive achievements have afforded the club four chances across both Torpids and Eights to break into Division I this year.

To get us there, we are investing in three main areas: hiring a multi-year Head Coach, securing external and abroad training during river closures, and purchasing a new men’s first shell.

This Giving Day please support our 24-hour ergathon and help us secure the resources needed to help us achieve this. A team of us will be rowing from 12 noon on Day 1 until 12 noon on Day 2.

Over the past ten years, our current men’s boat Andúril has taken the side from 28th to 17th in Eights, and 27th to 15th in Torpids, and a new shell is needed to take the club forward successfully.

A very generous donor has already pledged half the funds required for the new shell, so the club needs to raise the other half. Your gift today could help Exeter get back to the top division. And, if you want would like to make a larger donation to have your name in the boat, you can sponsor a seat for £3,125. Please contact the Development Office to find out more.

While a new boat is our major focus, your generosity will also enable the club to fund crucial coaching and conduct training away from the ever-flooded Oxford, most notably an Easter camp in Seville!
